Long Time

It's been a long time...

...shouldn't have left you...

Hmm...how do I make this blog more interesting?

Oh yeah, SEX SELLS.

Since It's 5am, I'm only making this post the starting post to a more exhaustive post on virginity and why it gets no respect post post post.

Sound interesting enough?

I disagree, I think it gets too much respect. Look at the importance placed on virginity in religions, in countries in the middle east, asian and africa where women are killed because they are not virgins. Or look at the AIDs epidemic in Africa and the commonly held opinion in some countries that sex with a virgin will cure aids.

...and would you say raping a virgin to cure AIDS, or killing non-virgins are signs of "respect" toward virginity? These actions illustrate a skewed perspective of virginity that uses it as a weapon of oppression and violence instead of something that should just be treated with respect. I would say these isntances are extremely disrespectful in themselves.

I agree with what you're saying, but I would come to a different conclusion-- I would say society as a whole needs to stress the importance of being in a committed relationship or a place of responsibility before having sex, not the fact that a woman still has her hymen intact. That's what I find skewed in the first place.

That's an interesting conclusion to address, but I'm focusing specifically on the perceptions of virginity physically (just having the hymen intact), mentally, spiritually, etc. It's not a conclusion per se, it's a generalized topic I'd like to expand upon.

well in any event, I look forward to reading your post and later refuting and ripping it a new one.

Just kidding, I'll probably like it.
